Decisiveness is not necessarily good

Yesterday, at the RNC, Bush was widely praised for his "decisiveness" in the war on terror.

Decisiveness is not inherently a good thing. It can be, but it can also just mean stubborn.

Two-year-olds are very decisive.

Just like "flip-flop" can also mean "adjust one's position based on the evolving evidence"?

The woman I loved on the radio today was the undecided voter being interviewed about her thoughts on the RNC who said,

"Well, I don't know. I thought John Kerry sounded like a good guy. But now I hear he flip-flops. If that's true, I'm going to change my mind and vote for Bush." Smart, lady. Just be sure you don't *flip-flop* and vote for Bush. Can't have any flip-flopping in this country. Mind changing, that's another story.
